The
Market
La Jolla Networks has identified three markets that it designates as Home,
Vertical and Wi-BUS™ Gateways. A single Wi-BUS™ network can serve all three
markets. The advantages afforded by Wi-BUS™ networks allow ISPs to offer
broadband at lower prices without the loss of profitability. Wi-BUS™ networks
can serve vertical markets such as government, military and medical institutions
with robust, secure and affordable private networks. Wi-BUS™ gate-waying is much
lower cost per subscriber than conventional backhaul solutions. In this network structure, each portable and
mobile presentation device (cell phones, laptops) appears to the headend as
identical to a fixed site while supporting traditional cell-phone and laptop
wireless standards. The Wi-BUS hub or
router translates data to and from these standard signal forms. Wi-BUS™ gate-waying is the obvious way for a telecom
that operates networks of different functions to lower backhaul costs and gain
savings by combining headend functions.
LJN contemplates establishing
flag-ship customers in key geographic markets: The US, the Pacific Rim, Latin
American, Europe, India and Africa. Progress is being made in all
areas. LJN has identified and profiled 27 of the most attractive national
markets and discovered that for broadband services the greatest density of
potential customers is found in the Pacific Rim. LJN has determined that the
addressable market is One Billion fixed (desk top) network subscribers, 125
Million wireless (laptop) subscribers and Five Billion cell phone users.
LJN will enter the market as follows:
